In the Algarve there are two types of trains that are both run by CP (Portuguese Railways). The premier Alfa Pendular trains (AP) are 125 mph tilting trains, which take about 3h05 from Faro to Lisbon Oriente or 2h42 from Albufeira-Ferreiras. There are slightly slower trains that you can catch, but these are still air-conditioned and comfortable. These are Intercity (IC) trains take 3h30 from Faro or 3h10 from Albufeira-Ferreiras.
