This Castle was ruled by the Moors between the 8th and 13th centuries. They are known to have expanded it making it one of the most preserved Moorish military constructions in Portugal.

Monchique

This town is nestled in between the mountainous peaks of Foia and Picota (highest point in the Algarve) and boasts some stunning views. Monchique is popular for its thermal springs with healing waters. It has a number of natural spas to choose from for some therapeutic treatments.
